I can’t believe that Christmas is here! It feels like the whole month of December has flown by with all of the events this year. Between making multiple visits to enjoy the lights at Celebration In The Oaks and the holiday jazz performances on Frenchmen Street, I’ve barely had time to catch my breath. Of course, I wouldn’t want it any other way. I hope that you’ve been able to get out enjoy some of the events this month in New Orleans or that you're coming down soon to join in on the excitement.
There are two more very important days left in the holiday season and there is a lot happening around town on both Christmas Eve and Day.
Christmas Eve In New Orleans
I have to recommend heading out to see the Bonfires on the Levee or enjoying a reveillion dinner at one of the many delicious dining establishments around the city like Broussard's or Court of Two Sisters or even the Crescent City Brewhouse. Yes, finely crafted beer can be a great compliment to a reveillion meal. However, there is so much else to do!
Christmas Brunch With Santa
The Bourbon Orleans invited Santa and his elves for a special brunch before he has to head out and deliver presents to all of the good boys and girls across the world. In addition to traditional brunch fare and specially food stations, festivities include holiday stockings filled with treats at each table, interactive activities and of course much more.
Brunch with Santa is at 10 am at the Bourbon Orleans which is located at 717 Orleans Street. Reservations are required; call (504) 571-4672 for reservations. Cost is $49 for adults, $24 for children 5-12 years old and children under four are free.
Steamboat Natachez
The crew of the Steamboat has a special dinner planned for Christmas Eve that includes entrees like house made ham, pecan-crusted redfish and desserts like Louisiana Cajun Kringle Cake. There will be entertainment by the Duke Heitgers’ Steamboat Stompers Trio.
Cost is $75 for an adult, $40.25 for a child 6-12 years old and $22.50 for children five and under five. Boarding starts at 7 pm and the boat heads off for a two hour cruise along the Mississippi at 7:30.
Christmas Eve at St. Louis Cathedral
The St. Louis Cathedral holds a traditional midnight mass that can’t be missed. It’s full of pageantry and celebration. Doors open at 11:15 pm and at 11:30 there’s Christmas carols with the St. Louis Cathedral Chroir. Christmas Day there’s masses at 9 am, 10:30 am and at noon.
St. Louis Cathedral is located on Jackson Square at Chartres Street. It is free, but you’re encouraged to get there right at the time doors open to get a great seat.

Christmas Day "Jinglin' through the Crescent"
Cruise around the Crescent City in a comfortable Gray Line motor coach while enjoying a narrated tour. The tour includes the French Quarter, Esplanade Avenue, City Park, Lake Pontchartrain, St. Charles Avenue, and the elegant Garden District.
