Are you worried that there’s nothing to do in New Orleans during June? Don’t worry! The float makers might be busy working on next year’s Mardi Gras floats in their dens, the sounds of Jazz Fast may have faded away, but that doesn’t mean that there will be nothing for you to do in New Orleans. There are still lots of events and festivals happening in New Orleans that you don’t want to miss!
New Orleans Oyster Festival – June 1-2
Love oysters? If you do, I happen to have a festival for you! The first weekend of June is the New Orleans Oyster Festival. Start off Saturday, watching master oyster shuckers to see who can shuck the fastest. Sunday, prepare to be wowed by eating professionals as they battle it out to see who can eat the most raw oysters. Of course for the rest of us, there will also be plenty of oysters to eat from twenty different vendors.

Vieux To Do – June 8-9
Not just one festival, but three free festivals rolled into one to take over the French Quarter during the second weekend of June.
Cajun-Zydeco Festival
Cajun and Zydeo music takes center stage with twenty performances over two days at the U.S. Mint. This year’s all-star collection of musicians include Rosie Ledet, Beausoleil, Geno Delafose & French Rockin' Boogie, Nathan & the Zydeco Cha Chas, the Lost Bayou Ramblers and many more.

French Market’s Creole Tomato Festival
For all of you that go crazy for tomatoes, the same weekend at the French Market you can find the tomato at the focus of cooking demonstrations, a local farmer’s market and even a Creole Tomato Parade.

Louisiana Seafood Festival
Now if seafood is more your thing, head over to the U.S. Mint. There the Louisiana Seafood Festival shares the building with the Cajun Zydeco Festival. There you’ll find celebrity chefs, cooking demos and the world’s largest seafood dish and crawfish boil.

Southern Fried Swamp Fest – June 15-16
Head over to the Audubon Zoo, where they all ask’d for you (let me know if you get that reference!) for a weekend of traditional and not so traditional fried food. Dad’s get into the zoo and the fest for free on father’s day (Sunday, June 16) and access to the fest is free with admission to the zoo for everyone else.

Festigals – June 20-23
Hey Ladies! This weekend is for you with a party and a conference in the French Quarter. There will be parades, speakers, parties (did I mention that yet?) and a Bodacious Bra auction for charity.
