Crescent City Connection Bridge Run Returns Saturday, September 23 at 6 p.m.
Officials move annual Bridge Run to September due to blistering heatwave
(New Orleans) – In an effort to combat the brutal record heatwave, Crescent City Classic organizers have moved the annual Crescent City Connection Bridge Run to September 23 at 6 p.m. from its traditionally scheduled June start.
Thousands of runners will run from the Westbank to the Eastbank over the iconic Crescent City Connection Bridge as they compete in the Crescent Connection Bridge Run. Last year, CCC Officials also announced the long-standing route will be converted to a 6k (3.7-mile) race with the starting line near Oakwood Center and the finish line and post-race party on Fulton Street in the heart of the historic Warehouse District.
“We’re excited to move this race to a cooler time of the year in September and to use the new 6k format,” said Crescent City Classic Race Director Eric Stuart. “The course across the Crescent City Connection provides picturesque views of downtown New Orleans at sunset so it’s an experience you don’t want to miss.”
Once the thousands of runners and walkers pass the finish line, they will be treated to a free post-race party with drinks, food and live music on Fulton Street near Manning’s.
Registration for this year’s CCC Bridge Run is open online at www.ccc10k.com and is $40 for runners and walkers who sign up by midnight on Saturday, September 16. The price will then increase to $45. All registrants will receive the official 2023 Bridge Run t-shirt, highly sought-after finisher medal and keepsake race bib.

About Crescent City Classic
The Crescent City Classic 10k road race is held every year the Saturday before Easter Sunday. The Classic is locally produced and is a great way to get in shape while having fun. The 10-kilometer course (6.2 miles) begins in Downtown News Orleans in front of the Caesars Superdome, runs through the historic French Quarter, and then all the way up tree-lined Esplanade Avenue to City Park where a huge concert festival is held immediately following the event for all the runners and walkers. The CCC is preceded by a large two-day Health & Fitness Expo, which is free and open to the public the Thursday and Friday prior to the 10k.
