ArenaBowl XXI is the first time this big event is hosted by New Orleans and it's already a sellout!. That's great news for the Arena Football League and even better news for the New Orleans tourism economy…especially for late July.
ArenaBowl XXI will be held in the New Orleans Arena on July 29 before a capacity audience of approximately 17,000. It's the first sellout of the event at a neutral venue. The last two games were held in Las Vegas and did not sellout. This is testimony that the lure of New Orleans as a destination for a major event is one of the best. The Arena is centrally located in the downtown area with hotels and restaurants all in close proximity and, of course, to the French Quarter as well. All of these amenities are either in walking distance or a short cab drive away.
Hosting ArenaBowl XXI is another indication that New Orleans is back in business. City officials and tourism leaders are hopeful this event will be considered for future New Orleans ArenaBowl games. Being played in July, typically a slow time for conventions and tourism, it's very beneficial to the local economy. It is estimated that this event could have a $20 million dollar impact for New Orleans.
Major thanks for New Orleans being considered for this event goes to the New Orleans VooDoo, the city's own Arena Football team. The VooDoo has lead the league in attendance averaging 16,669 fans per game.
New Orleans is a big event city…a city that prides itself as a sports town where football is King! AFL fans get ready for a great time in a very unique city. Hopefully, this is just the beginning of many years of hosting this popular event in New Orleans.
