During festival season in New Orleans, it can be easy to forget that there are kid-friendly events going on, too. For a change of pace, try this upcoming children's show in Covington!

How I Became a Pirate

May 4 at 9:45AM, 11:15AM and 7:30PM
May 5 at 11AM and 2PM
May 6 at 2PM
$20; $15 kids

Greater Covington Center's Fuhrmann Auditorium, 317 N. Jefferson Ave., Covington, LA

Based on a highly praised children's book of the same name, this rollicking high-seas adventure follows little Jeremy Jacob on a quest to find the perfect place to bury his new pirate friends' treasure. Audience members will love songs like "You've Got to Talk Like a Pirate" and "Green Teeth," and the 70-minute show (with 15-minute intermission) is the perfect length for fun-sized attention spans.

The show is presented by the Jefferson Performing Arts Society (JPAS) as part of its JPAS Arts Adventure series.

If you'd rather be at Jazz Fest this weekend, just take your little ones by the Kids Tent, which features entertainment like puppet shows, choirs, brass bands, dance groups and more!
